The Referral course is recommended for students who wish to start their dive training with us, then complete their open water dives and certification at another location. If you plan to travel to a tropical dive destination, the Referral course is a great way to optimize your time since you will complete all of the home study and pool training before your trip. This is also a great option if you do not want to dive in colder waters. The Non-Referral course is the complete training program and includes four open water dives completed over two days in Monterey, California. Once you have successfully completed the Non-Referral course, you will be a certified PADI Open Water Diver!
The Open Water Diver Non-Referral course is $649. The Open Water Diver Referral course is $399. Please visit the courses page for more information on available courses. All course fees are non-refundable.
Open Water Non-Referral Course:
Everything you need to complete the course is included in the price. This includes PADI materials and all equipment needed for the pool sessions. Rentals for the Ocean are only $80 for the entire weekend. You'll pay this the weekend of your ocean dives. You do not need to purchase any extra equipment or gear. Open Water Referral Course:
For the referral, the course includes PADI materials and all the equipment needed for the pool session only. You can find complete details on the courses page.
Dry Suit Diver Course:
The price of the dry suit diver course does include the rental for the drysuit itself.

For all other courses aside from what is specified above, you will need to rent or own the equipment necessary for the course.
Yes, you need to have basic swimming skills to scuba dive. You will need to pass a 200-yard swim test without stopping or be able to swim 300 yards with a mask, fins, and snorkel without stopping.
Our pool sessions are held in an indoor, heated, saltwater pool that averages about 89°F (31.6°C). The average ocean temperature in Monterey, California, is 55°F (12.7°C) year-round, but you will be provided with a wetsuit, hood, gloves, and booties to keep you warm.
The minimum age requirement is ten years of age. Student divers younger than 15 years of age will earn the PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification, which they may upgrade to PADI Open Water Diver certification upon reaching the age of 15. Please refer to our calendar. Classroom and pool sessions are completed over two nights; generally, they are hosted on weekday evenings but please refer to our calendar for exact times and dates. Accelerated classes are offered with a single-day classroom and pool session on Saturdays. Classes fill quickly, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as you have a date in mind. Please check the calendar for availability. Private courses can also be scheduled.
We estimate that home study will take about 8-10 hours. Regular classroom and pool work are then completed over two sessions, which are about 4 hours each. Accelerated sessions are completed over one session lasting about 7 hours. Finally, the ocean dives are completed over two days.

Weekday classes begin at 6:00 PM (sharp) and end at about 10:00 PM. Saturday accelerated pool sessions begin at 2:00 PM and end at about 10:00 PM.
Please bring all PADI material, original registration/liability/medical release forms, swimsuit, and towel. Please remember that if you must answer yes to a question on the medical form that you must be cleared by your doctor and bring a signed medical release form to your first pool session.

No, students who do not complete the coursework or cannot perform the skills necessary to pass PADI's requirements will not be considered safe and competent divers. Of course, if you are unable to pass, we will make reasonable accommodations for students to make up any requirements for certification. All course fees are non-refundable.
